Geophysical Survey

We specialize in providing non-invasive remote-sensing methods, (e.g. magnetometry, GPR, earth resistance, magnetic susceptibility), for investigating a wide range of environments. No one technique is appropriate for every situation, and HAP can provide an effective geophysical solution tailored to your site and specific archaeological questions.

Past projects include:

  • Locating and characterizing new archaeological sites

  • Defining site size and extent for existing sites

  • Locating buried archaeological features for subsequent excavation

  • Mapping unmarked graves and defining cemetery sites

  • Assessing the state of intact sub-plowzone archaeological remains

HAP has an excellent reputation for meeting the needs of its diverse clientele. We particularly thrive in pursuing challenging archaeological research questions, and devising innovative strategies for unusual and difficult survey environments. Feel free to contact us to discuss your particular site, questions, and needs.

Previous training courses include:

  • 5 day Magnetometry Workshop in Gansu Province, China.  June, 2015.

  • 10 day GPR Workshop in Cuzco, Peru.  July 2013.

  • 1 day GPR Workshop for Yale University.  May, 2012.

  • 3 day Magnetometry Training for Indiana University.  July 2009.

  • 2 days Archaeological Geophysics Workshop for Georga DOT.  October, 2008.
